Lyrics

We've been asked about lyrics for some of our songs by quite a few people - so here they are!

Narrowboat Pirates

(Chorus)
Oh I want to be a pirate
And sail all the seas
Have a parrot on my shoulder
And a cutlass at my knee
But I can't afford the ship
And I can't afford the crew
So we'll buy us a narrowboat
And see what we can do

Verse 1
Well we started up the shroppie, but soon we hit the shelf
The boat tipped up alarmingly, we all cried out for help
But as the boat was righted, Emma gave a shout
The cupboard was empty, the rum had all run out!

Verse 2
Paul is on the bow shouting onward we go
Ray has got his cannon, they're excited to watch it blow
But as the fuse was lit
Something went awry
It went off too early
And left them all to cry

Chorus

Verse 3
Polly's in the galley, she's baking us a cake
She's whipping up a mixture, not sure how long it will take
But instead of baking powder, she's added dynamite
When it's added to the oven, it'll give us quite a fright

Chorus

Verse 4
I'm in the engine bay, there's something wrong down there
It started with a spanner, and a cloud of fetid air
Now the water's rushing in, the dogs abandoned us
We're heading to the bottom with the minimum of fuss

Chorus x 2
